ALENDRONATE (a LEN droe nate) slows calcium loss from bones. It helps to make normal healthy bone and to slow bone loss in people with Paget's disease and osteoporosis. It may be used in others at risk for bone loss.
Bayview Pharmacy, Rhode Island's premier compounding pharmacy, has the ability to compound Alendronate Sodium oral solution. Prescriptions will need to be written with the request to compound. An example of how you might prescribe follows:
Compounded Medication
Alendronate Sodium 70mg/75ml
Flavored Oral Solution
#300ml
Take 75 ml by mouth once a week on an empty stomach. Do not lay down for at least 1 hour. Do not eat for at least 1 hour after taking this medicine.
