There is currently a Metronidazole tablet backorder. If you or your patients are having difficulty getting Metronidazole oral tablet prescriptions filled at a retail pharmacy due to manufacture backorder, Bayview Pharmacy may be able to help.
Metronidazole (Flagyl®) is a prescription antibiotic approved to treat a variety of different infections. It comes in several different forms, such as tablets, skin creams and lotions, or vaginal cream. The medication is especially useful for infections caused by parasites and anaerobic bacteria (bacteria that do not require oxygen to survive).
Bayview Pharmacy, Rhode Island's premier compounding pharmacy, has the ability to compound metronidazole capsules during this period of manufacture backorder. Prescriptions will need to be written with the request to compound. An example of how you might prescribe follows:
Compounded Medication:
Metronidazole 250mg capsules, or
Metronidazole 375mg capsules, or
Metronidazole 500mg capsules, or
Metronidazole 750mg capsules
