How Does it Work
Mupirocin 5% Spira-Wash™ Gel is an effective topical antiseptic agent indicated for wounds, infected wounds and burns. The formulation of Mupirocin 5% Spira-Wash™ Gel contains mupirocin, an antibiotic that selectively targets certain bacteria species, including Staphylococcal and Streptococcal. Mupirocin works by inhibiting protein synthesis, thereby weakening and killing bacteria on contact and preventing further infection. The addition of the antiseptic Spira-Wash™ Gel helps reduce inflammation and irritation, making it suitable for treating a variety of skin conditions.
Mupirocin 5% Spira-Wash™ Gel is applied directly to the affected area(s) and covered with a layer of sterile gauze or other suitable dressing. It should be reapplied as directed by the clinician and left in place. with regular monitoring and changing of dressings to ensure that the wound has been properly treated and the infection has been successfully eradicated. Mupirocin 5% Spira-Wash™ Gel has been proven to be an effective antiseptic and provides an important layer of protection against bacterial infection.
Other Uses
Mupirocin 5% Spira-Wash™ Gel may also be effective in the treatment of other skin infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, such as impetigo and folliculitis. Additionally, the compound formulation of the gel may be used to reduce the presence of bacteria on the skin prior to surgery, and in the treatment of skin infections caused by antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria and gram-positive cocci. Mupirocin 5% Spira-Wash™ Gel may also be used in conjunction with other topical antibacterial agents when treating more serious skin infections.
