Aloe Vera is known for its soothing and moisturizing properties. It can help to reduce inflammation and promote healing of the skin. Ascorbic Acid, or Vitamin C, is a powerful antioxidant that can help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. It also plays a key role in collagen synthesis, which can help to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Glycolic Acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid that can help to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells and promoting the growth of new ones.

While this formulation is generally safe for most people, there are some potential drug interactions that you should be aware of. If you are using any other topical medications or skin care products, it is important to discuss this with your pharmacist or healthcare provider to ensure that they will not interact negatively with this formulation.

For example, using this formulation in conjunction with other skin care products that contain alpha-hydroxy acids (like Glycolic Acid) or retinoids could potentially increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun, leading to sunburn or other skin damage. If you are using any such products, it is recommended to use a sunscreen with a high SPF during the day.

Additionally, Ascorbic Acid can interact with certain types of medications, including chemotherapy drugs, statins, and certain types of antiviral medications. If you are taking any of these medications, it is important to discuss this with your healthcare provider before using this formulation.

Finally, while Aloe Vera is generally safe for most people, it can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. If you have a known allergy to Aloe Vera, you should not use this formulation.

This formulation is designed to treat a variety of skin conditions, including dry skin, sun damage, and signs of aging. How Does it Work

A small arrow pointing down

This topical cream formulation combines Aloe Vera, Ascorbic Acid, and Glycolic Acid, each with its unique therapeutic properties, to provide a comprehensive skincare solution. The cream is dispensed in a pump mechanism, which allows for easy and controlled application on the skin.

Aloe Vera, present at 1% in the formulation, is renowned for its soothing and moisturizing properties. It helps to hydrate the skin, reduce inflammation, and accelerate the healing process of the skin. It is particularly beneficial for conditions such as sunburn, minor burns, and dry skin.

Ascorbic Acid, also known as Vitamin C, is included at a concentration of 15%. It is a potent antioxidant that helps to neutralize harmful free radicals in the skin. This helps to prevent premature aging and promotes a healthier, more youthful appearance. Ascorbic Acid also plays a crucial role in collagen synthesis, which is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Glycolic Acid, a type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), is present at 5% in the formulation. It works by exfoliating the outermost layer of the skin, promoting the shedding of dead skin cells and revealing a brighter, more even skin tone underneath. This can help to reduce the appearance of acne scars, age spots, and hyperpigmentation. Glycolic Acid also stimulates the production of new skin cells, further enhancing the skin's overall appearance and texture.

Together, these three active ingredients work synergistically to hydrate, protect, and rejuvenate the skin. The cream is designed for localized treatment, meaning it can be applied directly to the areas of the skin that require attention. This makes it a versatile solution for a range of skin conditions, including dry skin, sunburn, acne, and signs of aging.

As with any skincare product, it's important to use this formulation as directed by your healthcare provider. If you have any questions about this formulation or how to use it, don't hesitate to reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy. Our team of compounding pharmacists is always here to help.

Ascorbic Acid, or Vitamin C, is a potent antioxidant which can help protect the skin from environmental damage such as sun exposure and pollution. It also plays a key role in collagen synthesis, which can improve the appearance of aging skin. This makes the cream potentially beneficial for patients interested in anti-aging skincare.
