Questions prescribers ask

Who can create a provider account?

Any licensed prescriber with an NPI. We fill prescriptions for patients in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Florida, Maine, and Pennsylvania. Bayview currently serves eligible New York patients on a limited basis under New York's isolated-transaction criteria (non-controlled only); full nonresident pharmacy registration is pending. Prescribers outside those states can still register to browse the formulary, but we cannot dispense to their patients until we are licensed there.

How long does approval take?

Usually within an hour during business hours for prescribers in the states we serve. We verify your NPI and state license by hand, so a registration sent overnight is reviewed the next morning.

Is there a cost?

No. The account, the formulary, the order forms, and pharmacist consults are free to prescribers. Patients pay for their medication at the time of fill.

Do I need an account to send a prescription?

No. You can e-prescribe to NCPDP 4106882 or fax a signed prescription to (401) 284-4506 today. The account is where the full formulary and the prefilled order forms live, which is what makes writing a compounded prescription fast.

Can my staff use the account?

Yes. Nurses and medical assistants commonly use the formulary and order forms on a prescriber's behalf. The prescriber still signs every prescription, and controlled substances must be e-prescribed by the prescriber through an EPCS-enabled EHR.
