This formulation is a unique blend of Coenzyme Q10 0.3%, Estriol 0.1%, and Lipoic Acid 0.5% in a topical cream base. It is a semisolid preparation dispensed in a pump mechanism, designed for convenient and controlled application on the skin for localized treatment or absorption of active ingredients. This formulation is designed to deliver the active ingredients directly to the area of the skin where they are needed, bypassing the digestive system and potential side effects associated with oral administration.

Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone, is a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect the skin from damage caused by environmental stressors such as UV radiation and pollution. It also plays a crucial role in cellular energy production, which can help to improve skin health and vitality. Estriol, a form of estrogen, can help to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It can also help to alleviate symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Lipoic Acid is another potent antioxidant that can help to reduce inflammation and improve skin texture and tone.

This formulation can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions and concerns. It can help to improve the appearance of aging skin, reduce inflammation and redness, and improve skin health and vitality. It can also be used to alleviate symptoms of menopause and improve overall skin health. The active ingredients in this formulation work synergistically to provide a comprehensive approach to skin health and wellness.

It is important to note that while this formulation can provide significant benefits, it should be used under the guidance of a healthcare provider. Potential side effects may include skin irritation or sensitivity, and individuals with a history of hormone-sensitive conditions should use caution when using products containing estriol. As with any new skincare product, it is recommended to perform a patch test prior to full application to ensure compatibility with your skin.

Drug Interactions

A small arrow pointing down

This formulation contains Coenzyme Q10, Estriol, and Lipoic Acid, each of which may interact with certain other medications. Coenzyme Q10, a substance similar to a vitamin, is involved in energy production within cells and has antioxidant properties. It may interact with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs, blood pressure medications, and chemotherapy drugs. Patients taking these medications should inform their healthcare provider before starting this formulation.

Estriol, a form of estrogen, may interact with other hormone therapies, including birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, and certain cancer treatments. It may also interact with medications that affect liver enzymes that remove estriol from the body. These include certain antifungal medications, seizure medications, and HIV drugs. Patients on these medications should consult their healthcare provider before using this formulation.

Lipoic Acid, an antioxidant, may lower blood sugar levels and may therefore interact with diabetes medications, potentially leading to hypoglycemia. It may also interact with thyroid medications, potentially reducing their effectiveness. Patients on these medications should monitor their blood sugar and thyroid levels closely while using this formulation.

This formulation is designed for topical application, which may reduce the risk of systemic interactions. However, some of the active ingredients may still be absorbed into the bloodstream, especially with prolonged use or application to large areas of skin. Therefore, patients should still be aware of potential interactions.

The combination of these ingredients is designed to address certain skin conditions. Coenzyme Q10 and Lipoic Acid, as antioxidants, may help to reduce skin damage caused by free radicals and may improve skin texture and elasticity. Estriol, as a form of estrogen, may help to improve skin hydration and elasticity, and may reduce the appearance of wrinkles. However, the effectiveness of this formulation will depend on the individual patient's skin condition and overall health.

Patients and prescribers should be aware that while this formulation is generally well-tolerated, side effects may occur. These can include skin irritation, redness, and sensitivity. If these or any other side effects occur, use of the formulation should be discontinued and a healthcare provider should be consulted.

If you have any questions about this formulation or its potential interactions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy. Our team of knowledgeable compounding pharmacists is always here to help.

How Does it Work

A small arrow pointing down

This unique formulation combines Coenzyme Q10, Estriol, and Lipoic Acid in a topical cream designed for easy application and controlled absorption through the skin. Each of these active ingredients plays a crucial role in addressing various disease states.

Coenzyme Q10, also known as CoQ10, is a naturally occurring antioxidant in the body that plays a vital role in the production of energy in cells. It is particularly beneficial for skin health as it helps to neutralize harmful free radicals that are one of the major causes of aging. When applied topically, CoQ10 can penetrate the skin's surface to provide antioxidant protection, reduce inflammation, stimulate collagen production, and reduce signs of aging.

Estriol, a form of estrogen, is known for its beneficial effects on the skin. It can improve skin elasticity, increase collagen production, and help to maintain a youthful appearance. Topical application of Estriol can help to alleviate symptoms of menopause such as dryness, thinning, and wrinkling of the skin. It is also used in the treatment of various skin disorders.

Lipoic Acid, also known as Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA), is a powerful antioxidant that is both water and fat-soluble, which allows it to work in every cell or tissue in the body. When applied topically, Lipoic Acid can help to smooth skin, improve texture, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful in the treatment of various skin conditions.

The combination of these three active ingredients in a single topical cream provides a multi-faceted approach to skin health. The cream is designed to be easily absorbed into the skin, allowing for localized treatment of the affected area. The pump mechanism allows for controlled application, ensuring that the correct amount of cream is dispensed each time.

This formulation is suitable for use in various disease states, including skin aging, menopausal symptoms, and certain skin disorders. It provides a holistic approach to skin health, addressing not only the symptoms but also the underlying causes of skin conditions. As with any medication, it is important to use this product as directed by a healthcare professional.

If you have any questions about this formulation, or if you would like more information on how it can benefit your specific condition, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy. Our team of knowledgeable compounding pharmacists is always here to help.

Other Uses

A small arrow pointing down

This cream formulation incorporating Coenzyme Q10, Estriol and Lipoic Acid can serve more purposes than the diseases identified. Other than targeted skin treatment, this formulation also lends itself to use in aiding the general health of your skin. Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant that neutralizes free radical damage, thus preventing premature skin aging such as wrinkles and sagging. It supports the production of collagen and elastin, essential components for maintaining skin's firmness and elasticity.

Estriol, a form of estrogen, majorly benefits the skin by reducing signs of aging. It is known to maintain the water-holding ability and elasticity of the skin, preventing dehydration and the development of wrinkles. Moreover, its anti-inflammatory properties can help in soothing irritated or inflamed skin conditions. It assists in managing symptoms of menopausal skin changes such as dryness or thinning, potentially serving therapeutic benefits for menopausal women.

Lipoic Acid, a potent antioxidant, contributes to the glow and radiance of the skin. It helps to diminish fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of skin aging. It is known to help with skin conditions such as open pores and acne scars, as well as improving skin texture.

This combination therapy may also aid in alleviating certain gynecologic conditions due to the presence of estriol. Women experiencing symptoms related to low estrogen levels such as vaginal dryness, itching or burning may experience relief upon topical application. However, such use should be thoroughly discussed with a healthcare professional due to potential mimicking of hormonal functionalities.

Please note that while potential in these areas has been indicated, patients and prescribers are urged to contact us for further information regarding off-label usage depending on individual patient's conditions and requirements. Remember that it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before using this formulation for alternative procedures.
