This compounded formulation of Lactic Acid/Arbutin 2%/Kojic Acid 1% Topical Cream is a potent solution for various skin conditions such as melasma, hyperpigmentation, acne, age spots, and sun damage. It functions by inhibiting melanin production, the pigment that causes skin discoloration, thereby promoting a more even skin tone. The formulation also possesses anti-inflammatory properties and aids in skin exfoliation, which can help diminish the visibility of acne and age spots.

Moreover, this formulation provides a protective layer against further sun damage, enhancing the skin's resilience. However, it is crucial to note that this formulation should not be applied on broken or irritated skin as it may exacerbate the condition. It is also recommended to use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher while using this formulation, as it can increase the skin's sensitivity to the sun.

Patients should also be cautious to avoid contact with the eyes and other mucous membranes. In case of any irritation or redness, it is advised to discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare provider. This formulation is dispensed in a pump mechanism, designed for convenient and controlled application on the skin, ensuring localized treatment or absorption of active ingredients. Compounded preparations have no NDC, so this formula will not appear in your EHR's drug search. Use your system's compound, non-formulary, or free-text prescription entry and name the preparation exactly as written in step 3. Compounded preparations have no NDC and will not appear in your drug search. For EPCS to validate, select a drug entry your EHR recognizes as controlled, usually the bulk powder entry for the active ingredient (for example Ketamine (bulk) powder, not a branded product), then put the full formula from step 3 in the prescription body.
