Our Hyaluronic Acid 1%/Niacinamide 5% Topical Cream is a meticulously crafted dermatological formulation intended for patients seeking to improve skin hydration, elasticity, and overall appearance. The cream is a semisolid preparation, which is dispensed through a pump mechanism. This delivery system ensures a convenient, hygienic, and controlled application, allowing for consistent dosing and minimizing product waste. The pump also protects the integrity of the active ingredients by limiting their exposure to air and contaminants.

Hyaluronic Acid, at a concentration of 1%, is a powerful humectant that attracts and retains moisture in the skin, which can lead to a plumping effect that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Its hydrating properties are essential for maintaining skin's moisture balance, promoting a healthy skin barrier, and providing a non-irritating rejuvenation. Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, is included at a 5% concentration and offers multiple benefits for the skin. It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial in the treatment of acne and other inflammatory skin conditions. Niacinamide also helps to even out skin tone, improve texture, and strengthen the skin's barrier function, which can be particularly helpful in conditions like eczema or rosacea.

This topical cream is suitable for patients with a variety of skin concerns, including but not limited to, dryness, aging skin, acne, hyperpigmentation, and compromised skin barrier function. The combination of Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide works synergistically to provide hydration, reduce inflammation, and promote a more youthful and radiant complexion. It is important for patients to understand that consistent and prolonged use is necessary to achieve the best results.

For optimal results, patients should apply the cream to clean skin, typically once or twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider. As with any topical treatment, it is recommended to conduct a patch test prior to the first use to ensure no hypersensitivity to the ingredients. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional. For any questions or concerns regarding this formulation, or to discuss its suitability for specific skin conditions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy. Our team of compounding pharmacists is dedicated to providing personalized care and expert guidance to both patients and prescribers.

Drug Interactions

A small arrow pointing down

The formulation of Hyaluronic Acid 1%/Niacinamide 5% Topical Cream is designed to be applied to the skin for various dermatological purposes. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin known for its capacity to attract and retain moisture, which can help in hydrating the skin and potentially reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, has been shown to have multiple skin benefits, including improving the skin's barrier function, reducing redness and blotchiness, and lightening skin pigmentation. This combination can be beneficial in treating conditions such as dry skin, aging skin, and hyperpigmentation.

When considering drug interactions, it is important to note that this topical cream is intended for external use and the systemic absorption of both hyaluronic acid and niacinamide is minimal. Therefore, the likelihood of systemic drug interactions is low. However, caution should be exercised when using this formulation alongside other topical products that may alter the skin barrier or cause irritation. For instance, concurrent use with topical retinoids or high-concentration alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) may increase skin irritation and dryness. It is advisable to introduce one product at a time to monitor skin tolerance.

Patients should be aware that using multiple topical products may also affect the absorption and effectiveness of the active ingredients. For example, applying a topical cream immediately after using astringents or alcohol-containing products could potentially cause a stinging sensation or irritation due to the niacinamide content. It is generally recommended to wait for the skin to dry after cleansing before applying the cream.

While there are no known severe drug interactions with this formulation, it is always prudent to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new skincare regimen, especially for those with sensitive skin or those using prescription topical medications. If you have any questions or concerns about using this Hyaluronic Acid 1%/Niacinamide 5% Topical Cream or if you are experiencing unusual skin reactions, please reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy for personalized advice and support.

Compounded preparations have no NDC, so this formula will not appear in your EHR's drug search. Use your system's compound, non-formulary, or free-text prescription entry and name the preparation exactly as written in step 3. If your EHR forces you to pick a listed drug, pick the closest entry for the active ingredient and put the full formula in the prescription body (the Sig or directions field), not in Notes to Pharmacy.

Compounded preparations have no NDC and will not appear in your drug search. For EPCS to validate, select a drug entry your EHR recognizes as controlled, usually the bulk powder entry for the active ingredient (for example Ketamine (bulk) powder, not a branded product), then put the full formula from step 3 in the prescription body.
