Ketoconazole 6%/DMSO Nail Solution is a specially formulated liquid medication designed for topical application to the nails. It is primarily used to treat various nail conditions, including fungal infections, brittleness, and discoloration. The solution works by delivering therapeutic agents directly to the nails, promoting healthy nail growth and improving overall nail appearance.

The active ingredient in this solution is Ketoconazole, an antifungal medication that works by inhibiting the growth of the fungus causing the infection. The solution also contains Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO), a compound that aids in the penetration of Ketoconazole into the nail and surrounding skin.

To use this solution, it is recommended that the affected nail be thoroughly cleaned and dried before application. The solution should be applied evenly to the affected nail and surrounding skin twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider. It is crucial to ensure that the solution completely covers the affected area and is allowed to dry before wearing socks or shoes.

Continued use of the solution for the full course of treatment is essential, even if symptoms appear to improve. Discontinuing the medication prematurely may result in the return of the infection. For EPCS to validate, select a drug entry your EHR recognizes as controlled, usually the bulk powder entry for the active ingredient (for example Ketamine (bulk) powder, not a branded product), then put the full formula from step 3 in the prescription body.
