Pennsylvania is the newest state on our license list. Bayview Pharmacy is licensed as a nonresident pharmacy by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy, a license issued in 2026, and that license lets us fill compounded prescriptions written for Pennsylvania patients and ship them from our lab at 3844 Post Road in Warwick, Rhode Island, where we have compounded sterile and non-sterile preparations since 2006 under USP 795, 797 and 800 standards.

The prescription has to come from a licensed prescriber. Your Pennsylvania prescriber can e-prescribe to Bayview, fax the order to 401-284-4506, or complete one of our order forms; office staff often find the fax route the simplest for a first order. If you are already taking a compounded preparation from another pharmacy, call 401-284-4505 and we will ask for the transfer, or your prescriber can write it again.
Once we have the prescription, a pharmacist verifies it. That means reading the formula, confirming the strength, base and dosage form, and calling the office when anything is ambiguous. Compounding is typically 1 to 3 business days after verification, and the preparation ships when it is finished and checked. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved and are made only on a prescriber's order.

Yes. Bayview compounds Schedule II to IV preparations and ships them to Pennsylvania patients when a licensed prescriber sends a valid prescription. Controlled substance prescriptions follow federal and Pennsylvania rules on transmission, refills and expiration, and those rules often require a new prescription for each fill rather than a refill authorization. Call 401-284-4505 if you are unsure what applies to yours.
Compounded preparations are usually paid out of pocket. Some Pennsylvania plans reimburse the patient afterwards if you submit an itemized receipt, which we can provide with each fill, and flexible spending accounts are sometimes an option. Usually, yes. Call 401-284-4505 with the name of your current pharmacy and we will request the prescription. You can also request a transfer online and we will contact your current pharmacy for you. Having your prescriber send a new one is often faster and keeps the formula exactly as written. Refills on controlled substances follow state and federal rules, so a Schedule II to IV preparation may need a new prescription from your Pennsylvania prescriber rather than a transfer.
Pickup at 3844 Post Road in Warwick is open to anyone, Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Pennsylvania patients almost always have prescriptions mailed instead, since transit is typically 1 to 2 business days. If you are going to be in Rhode Island, call 401-284-4505 ahead of time and we will hold the finished prescription at the counter.
