Bayview in your state

Bayview Pharmacy and your state

New Hampshire patients receive their compounded prescriptions by mail. Bayview Pharmacy is a 503A compounding pharmacy at 3844 Post Road in Warwick, Rhode Island, compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations since 2006 in labs built to USP 795, 797 and 800 standards. Nothing about the compounding changes because the package has farther to travel.

Bayview Pharmacy is licensed as a nonresident pharmacy by the New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy. We fill and ship compounded prescriptions to patients anywhere in New Hampshire. Transit is typically 1 to 2 business days by UPS or USPS after the package leaves the pharmacy. Packaging is plain. Preparations that need temperature protection are packed for it, which matters in a state with long cold stretches and hot summer weeks. Expedited shipping is available for an additional charge.

Start with your prescriber. They can e-prescribe to Bayview, fax the order to 401-284-4506 or use one of our order forms, and they can call 401-284-4505 if they want to talk through a strength or a dosage form first. If a compounded prescription is already on file at another pharmacy, call us and we will request the transfer.

Once the prescription reaches us, a pharmacist verifies it before any compounding starts. Compounding is typically 1 to 3 business days after that verification, and then the preparation is packed and shipped. We contact you if anything is unclear or if the prescriber has to confirm a detail. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved and are made only on a prescriber's order. Pickup in Warwick is open to anyone, though for most New Hampshire patients that is a long drive for a package that can arrive in two days.

Prescribers commonly request preparations such as Low Dose Naltrexone, testosterone for women, diltiazem, tobramycin eye drops, topical pain cream, custom oral suspensions and methimazole for cats.

See the FAQ for cost and prescription questions, request a refill when you are running low, and send prescribers to the providers page for forms and account setup.

Questions from patients and prescribers

Does Bayview Pharmacy ship to New Hampshire?

Yes. New Hampshire patients are served by mail order from our Warwick, Rhode Island lab. Packages go by UPS or USPS and typically arrive 1 to 2 business days after they leave the pharmacy. The outer packaging is plain, and preparations that need temperature protection are packed for it, which we watch closely during New England cold snaps and heat waves. Expedited shipping is available for an additional charge.

Is Bayview a licensed pharmacy in New Hampshire?

Yes. Bayview Pharmacy holds a nonresident pharmacy license from the New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy, which allows us to fill prescriptions for New Hampshire patients and ship them from Rhode Island. We are a 503A compounding pharmacy and have operated since 2006. Preparations are compounded for one patient at a time on a prescriber's order, and compounded preparations are not FDA-approved.

How long does shipping to New Hampshire take?

Transit is typically 1 to 2 business days by UPS or USPS once the package leaves Warwick. Before shipping, compounding is typically 1 to 3 business days after a pharmacist verifies the prescription. If we have to call the prescribing office to confirm a strength or base, that can add a day. Order refills a few days before you run out, and ask about expedited shipping if timing is tight.

Can my New Hampshire doctor send a compounded prescription to Bayview?

Yes. Your prescriber can e-prescribe to Bayview Pharmacy in Warwick, Rhode Island, fax the prescription to 401-284-4506, or use one of our order forms. Prescribers who have not compounded with us before can call 401-284-4505 and speak with a pharmacist about dosage forms, strengths and bases. We fill prescriptions from the patient's own prescriber and do not write prescriptions or provide consultations.

Do you ship controlled substances to New Hampshire?

Yes. Bayview compounds Schedule II to IV preparations and ships them to New Hampshire patients when a licensed prescriber sends a valid prescription. Transmission, refill and expiration rules for controlled substances are set by federal law and New Hampshire law, so your prescriber may need to send a new prescription for each fill rather than authorizing refills. Call 401-284-4505 with questions about a specific preparation.

Can I pick up my prescription in person?

You can. Our counter at 3844 Post Road in Warwick, Rhode Island is open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm, and pickup is available to anyone. For most New Hampshire patients the drive is long enough that mail order makes more sense, since transit is typically 1 to 2 business days. If you are passing through Rhode Island anyway, call 401-284-4505 and we will have the prescription ready.

Does Bayview take New Hampshire insurance?

Compounded preparations are usually paid out of pocket. Some plans reimburse patients who submit an itemized receipt, and we can provide one with every fill. We quote the price before compounding starts so nothing is a surprise when the package arrives. For more on how billing is handled for compounded prescriptions, see do compounding pharmacies take insurance.

Can I transfer my compounded prescription to Bayview?

Usually. Call 401-284-4505 with the name of the pharmacy holding the prescription and we will request it, or ask your prescriber to send a new prescription directly to us. You can also request a transfer online and we will contact your current pharmacy for you. A new prescription is often the simpler route, because the formula and strength come through exactly as the prescriber intends. Refills on controlled substances follow state and federal rules and may not be transferable.
