Formula Information

A small arrow pointing down

Clomiphene Citrate 2%/Testosterone 2% Oral Dissolve Tablet is a custom-compounded formulation designed to provide a unique therapeutic approach for patients requiring hormone modulation. This formulation is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing conditions such as hypogonadism, infertility, and other hormonal imbalances. Clomiphene Citrate acts as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), which can stimulate the pituitary gland to increase the production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This, in turn, can enhance the body's natural production of testosterone, making it a valuable option for treating male infertility and certain cases of hypogonadism.

Testosterone, a critical androgen hormone, plays a vital role in the development and maintenance of male secondary sexual characteristics, muscle mass, bone density, and overall well-being. By incorporating testosterone into this formulation, the compounded tablet provides a direct supplementation of this essential hormone, which can be particularly beneficial for patients with low testosterone levels due to various medical conditions or age-related decline.

The oral dissolve tablet form is specifically designed to enhance patient compliance and convenience. By dissolving quickly in the mouth upon contact with saliva, this formulation eliminates the need for water or swallowing, which can be advantageous for patients who have difficulty swallowing pills or prefer a more discreet method of administration. The rapid dissolution and absorption through the oral mucosa allow for a swift onset of therapeutic effects, potentially leading to quicker symptom relief and improved patient outcomes.

For prescribers, this formulation offers a customizable approach to hormone therapy, allowing for precise dosing tailored to the individual needs of each patient. The combination of Clomiphene Citrate and Testosterone in a single tablet simplifies the treatment regimen, potentially improving adherence and efficacy. As with any compounded medication, it is essential to consider the patient's specific medical history, current medications, and overall treatment goals when prescribing this formulation.

Patients and prescribers interested in this formulation should be aware of potential side effects, which may include mood changes, headaches, or gastrointestinal discomfort. Regular monitoring of hormone levels and clinical response is recommended to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes. As always, if you have any questions or require further information about this formulation, please reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy. Our team of knowledgeable compounding pharmacists is here to assist you with any inquiries or concerns you may have.

Drug Interactions

A small arrow pointing down

Clomiphene Citrate 2%/Testosterone 2% Oral Dissolve Tablet is a compounded formulation designed to address specific conditions such as hypogonadism, infertility, and other hormonal imbalances. This unique formulation allows for rapid absorption through the oral mucosa, providing a quick onset of action. However, it is crucial to consider potential drug interactions that may affect the efficacy and safety of this treatment.

Clomiphene Citrate, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), can interact with various medications. It may enhance the effects of anticoagulants, such as warfarin, increasing the risk of bleeding. Patients on anticoagulant therapy should be closely monitored, and dose adjustments may be necessary. Additionally, clomiphene may interact with other hormonal therapies, such as estrogen or progesterone, potentially altering their effects. It is important to evaluate the patient's current medication regimen to avoid adverse interactions.

Testosterone, an androgen, can also interact with several medications. It may increase the effects of oral anticoagulants, necessitating careful monitoring of prothrombin time and international normalized ratio (INR). Concurrent use with corticosteroids may exacerbate fluid retention, particularly in patients with cardiac, renal, or hepatic disease. Testosterone can also affect blood glucose levels, potentially altering the requirements for insulin or other antidiabetic medications. Patients with diabetes should monitor their blood glucose levels closely and consult their healthcare provider for any necessary adjustments.

Both clomiphene and testosterone can interact with medications that affect liver enzyme activity, such as CYP450 inducers or inhibitors. Inducers like rifampin or phenytoin may decrease the effectiveness of this formulation by increasing the metabolism of its components, while inhibitors like ketoconazole or erythromycin may increase the risk of side effects by reducing their clearance. It is essential to review the patient's medication list for any potential interactions with liver enzyme modulators.

Patients and prescribers should be aware of the potential for interactions with herbal supplements and over-the-counter medications. For instance, St. John's Wort, a common herbal supplement, may induce liver enzymes and reduce the effectiveness of clomiphene and testosterone. Patients should inform their healthcare provider of all supplements and non-prescription medications they are taking to ensure safe and appropriate use of this formulation.

Patients and prescribers should work closely together to review all medications and supplements to minimize risks and optimize therapeutic outcomes. If you have any questions or need further information, please reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy.

How Does it Work

A small arrow pointing down

This formulation is specifically crafted to dissolve quickly in the mouth upon contact with saliva, eliminating the need for water or swallowing. This method of administration allows for the active ingredients to be absorbed directly through the oral mucosa, which can lead to a more rapid onset of therapeutic effects compared to traditional oral tablets that must pass through the gastrointestinal tract.

Clomiphene Citrate is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that works by blocking estrogen receptors in the brain, particularly in the hypothalamus. This action leads to an increase in the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which subsequently stimulates the pituitary gland to produce more luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). The increase in these hormones can enhance the production of testosterone in men, making it a valuable treatment option for male hypogonadism or low testosterone levels. By increasing endogenous testosterone production, Clomiphene Citrate can help alleviate symptoms associated with low testosterone, such as fatigue, decreased libido, and mood disturbances.

Testosterone, a naturally occurring hormone, plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of male secondary sexual characteristics, muscle mass, bone density, and overall well-being. In this formulation, testosterone is included to provide an immediate source of the hormone, complementing the longer-term effects of Clomiphene Citrate. The combination of these two active ingredients can be particularly beneficial for patients who require both an immediate and sustained increase in testosterone levels.

The oral dissolve tablet form is particularly advantageous for patients who may have difficulty swallowing pills or who prefer a more convenient method of administration. The rapid dissolution and absorption through the oral mucosa bypass the first-pass metabolism in the liver, potentially leading to improved bioavailability and faster therapeutic effects. This can be especially important for patients seeking prompt relief from symptoms associated with low testosterone levels.

For prescribers, this formulation offers a tailored approach to managing conditions related to low testosterone, providing both immediate and sustained hormonal support. The compounded nature of this medication allows for customization to meet the specific needs of individual patients, ensuring optimal therapeutic outcomes. As with any medication, it is important to monitor patients for efficacy and any potential side effects, adjusting the formulation as necessary to achieve the desired results.

If you have any questions about this formulation or how it may benefit your patients, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at Bayview Pharmacy. Our team of knowledgeable compounding pharmacists is here to assist you with any inquiries or concerns you may have.
